Join us for a fascinating talk as specialist hand embroiderer Jenny Adin-Christie leads us through the journey of her now 25 year career, discussing her unique approach to stitch, which marries tradition with innovation.
This is a unique chance to see behind the scenes of her work on a hugely varied range of commissions, many of national significance, such as designing altar frontals for Canterbury Cathedral, playing a key role in the RSN team which produced the applied lace panels for HRH The Princess of Wales’ famed royal wedding dress, restoring the Herald’s tabards for the Coronation of HM King Charles III and creating a new four-poster bed for Beulieu.
After the talk, join us for tea and cake and enjoy chatting with fellow embroidery afficionados! Your ticket also includes House entry for the day, so you can explore the House before or after the talk at your leisure.
Jenny Adin-Christie is originally from Derbyshire. She has been practising her love of embroidery since childhood, learning from a family with an inherent passion for a broad range of craft skills.
Jenny was exhaustively trained as a professional embroiderer on the prestigious three year Apprenticeship at the Royal School of Needlework, Hampton Court Palace, graduating with distinction in 1999.
Following this intensive training, Jenny remained at the RSN to work full time for a further ten years, as a member of the teaching team and commercial Studio staff, becoming Assistant Head of Studio, but left to pursue a freelance career in 2008. She now works from her home studio in Surrey, working to commission and creating unique embroidery designs and kits, whilst also teaching in the UK and worldwide.
