We couldn’t celebrate Pride & Prejudice Day without Mr Darcy… For this lockdown project we asked 17 actors read Mr Darcy’s letter to Elizabeth, after his first unfortunate proposal – exploring the universality of Jane Austen’s iconic character.

For Pride & Prejudice Day our Artist in Residence Léna Gibert created a series of illustrations showing scenes from Pride and Prejudice from Mr Darcy’s point of view… Here she shows us how one illustration came together. Find out more and see the finished illustrations.

On the day of publication, Jane and her mother read the first book of Pride & Prejudice aloud in the Drawing Room. Here, Collections and Interpretation manager Sophie Reynolds shares an extract from the same spot.
