Jane Austen's House is the perfect destination for a group visit and we are delighted to cater for groups of varying size and interest.

We are delighted to welcome pre-booked groups to Jane Austen’s House.  Groups can freely explore the home and garden that Jane knew and loved, uncovering the story of her life and times, and getting up-close to objects from our unparalleled Austen collection, including Jane’s jewellery, letters, first editions of her novels and the little table at which she wrote.

Please see below for our 2024 Group Visit Policy.

All group visits must be pre-booked.  Please see our 2024 Group Visit Policy above for details.

Please note: Tour guides also require tickets for entry. Tickets are automatically annual passes allowing guides to revisit the House multiple times throughout the year. (Annual pass tickets must be pre-booked. A valid annual pass must be provided on return visits. Excludes special event days.)

Tour guides are not permitted to conduct guided tours at Jane Austen’s House. If a party have requested a guided tour, please contact us and we will be happy to arrange a tour with our expert in-house guides.

Jane Austen’s House is situated in the Hampshire village of Chawton.  Visit our Find Us page to plan your visit and visit our Chawton page to discover more about the village.

If your group is planning a full day trip to the area you may also like to visit nearby Chawton House, Gilbert White’s House and even take a trip on the Watercress Line.

Please note:

We also offer bespoke virtual tours for groups. A virtual tour usually lasts one hour and can accommodate up to 50 people. Tours will be led by a member of staff who can answer questions and tailor the tour to suit your interests. Email us for more details.
