‘Six Winters’: Evening TourJoin us after dark for a unique, candlelit guided tour of Jane Austen's House and our winter exhibition, followed by warming mulled wine and mince pies. Finish the evening by having your favourite Jane Austen quote hand-written by our resident calligrapher!
Friday 17 December
6:00pm — 9:00pm
In celebration of Jane Austen’s birthday, join us for a unique, candlelit guided tour of Jane Austen’s House and our winter exhibition, visiting scenes from six memorable winters in Jane Austen’s life and novels.
As part of a small group, you will step back in time and discover six entrancing stories from Jane Austen’s life and works, told by an expert guide, using the House itself and objects from the collection to set the scene.
Together, we’ll travel from the bitterly cold winter of Jane Austen’s birth to the happy January of dancing and flirting with her ‘Irish friend’ Tom Lefroy, and her first reading of Pride & Prejudice… with diversions to Persuasion and Sense & Sensibility along the way!
Throughout this special, multi-sensory tour, you will have the chance to see, hear, smell, taste and take part in moments from history!
We’ll finish the tour with warming mulled wine and mince pies, and our resident calligrapher Alejandra Gonaldi will be on hand to beautifully scribe your favourite Jane Austen quotes as a special Christmas treat!
