Virtual ‘Emma’ Tour

You are cordially invited to join us for a very special virtual guided tour of Jane Austenā€™s House, exploring the story behind 'Emma' - often regarded as the perfect English novel.

Saturday 18 June
6:00pm ā€” 7:00pm

‘I have none of the usual inducements of women to marry. Were I to fall in love, indeed, it would be a different thing! but I never have been in love; it is not my way, or my nature; and I do not think I ever shall.’

Emma

Join us for a unique virtual guided tour of Jane Austen’s House. Following in Janeā€™s footsteps, we’ll explore the rooms where Emma was written and learn about her inspirations for the novel.

Weā€™ll also take a close look at one of our first editions of Emma, hear the story of the novelā€™s publication and Jane Austenā€™s dedication to the Prince Regent, and examine her correspondence with the Royal librarian.

This light-hearted and enjoyable virtual tour shines a light on objects and stories that relate to Jane Austenā€™s classic novel; it offers the opportunity to examineĀ  and enjoy Emma, and to experience Jane Austenā€™s House and collection in a new way.

With plenty of time to ask questions, this is a unique opportunity to to indulge our love of the well-meaning but misguided heroine of whom Jane Austen famously declared ā€˜no one but myself will much likeā€™.
