Join us for a special look at the homes of two extraordinary women from the canon of English literature: Jane Austen and Elizabeth Gaskell. This unique online tour will spotlight some of the highlights of each historic house, comparing their favourite writing places and their most intimate rooms.
This event is produced in partnership with Elizabeth Gaskell’s House, the home of one of the UK’s most important Victorian writers, best known for Cranford, Wives and Daughters and North and South. Her home is a beautifully-restored Victorian middle-class house in Manchester.
This exclusive online event will be hosted by expert guides from Jane Austen’s House and Elizabeth Gaskell’s House. As part of a small group, you will enjoy a guided walk through each house, with lots of opportunities to chat and to ask questions.
This event will take place on Zoom. Please provide a valid email address, as you will be emailed a link to join the tour in the run up to the event.
If you are joining as a group or household, please buy one ticket for each person attending. All proceeds go towards the upkeep of the Museum.
