Spring/Summer events!

We're looking forward to summer days and a fabulous line up of talks, tours, workshops and music!

There’s nothing like the first few days of spring sunshine to get us in the mood for summer.. we’re looking forward to long sunny days, ice creams on the lawn, windows thrown open to let the scent of the roses drift into the House, and the heady thrill of leaving home without a coat..!

While we’re committed to maintaining our programme of online events (shout out here for our new Virtual Book Club as well as our regular Virtual Tours and an exciting Virtual Piano Recital), we must admit we’re also very excited to be planning in-person events again too.

If you are near enough for a visit (or are planning a holiday especially – why not?!), check out our busy line-up of talks, tours, workshops and performances. The full programme is now available on our Events page – and a few of our favourites are below!

Tours

We love finding new ways to show off Jane Austen’s House to you, and to share its secrets and stories. This summer we have some exciting new tours lined up, including the early morning Waking Up the House,Ā  a lazy afternoon Emma-themed tour, and a fabulous evening tour looking at all things Gin Austen!

Talks

Jane Austen Regency Week runs from 18-26 June, and with it a host of fascinating talks and events! We’re kicking off with talks on Jane Austen and London, Needlework, Martha Lloyd’s Household Book, Jane’s Teenage Writings and Jane’s family.

Workshops

We’re looking forward to our first in person Calligraphy Workshop with the wonderful Alejandra Gonaldi, a fabulous intro to patchwork and a wonderful poetry workshop, which lets you be our Poet in Residence for the day! (And lots more exciting workshops in the pipeline – watch this space!)

*Summer special*

And last but not least, a special shout-out for our Dress Up Day, which was so much fun last year. We can’t wait to trim those bonnets and dress up in our best again for this year’s celebration of all things Regency. Hosted by Dr Serena Dyer, this is the occasion to swish around in your most fabulous Regency outfits, learn about Regency fashion, and enjoy a day of living like you’re in an Austen novel!

What are you waiting for? Most of our events have a low capacity, to suit our small-size, so booking is essential!

We can’t wait to welcome you this summer!
