Welcoming our New Creatives in Residence

We continue our Creatives in Residence programme by welcoming two exceptionally talented creatives – artist Molly Lambourn and poet Jade Cuttle – who will join us for a three month digital residency.

Throughout their residency, Molly and Jade will take inspiration from Jane Austen’s life, works, home and legacy. They will create their own new pieces and also work together to share ideas, stories, imagery and a love of Jane Austen!

We can’t wait to see what they create!

Artist in Residence: Molly Lambourn

Molly Lambourn is a 23 year old emerging fine artist from Kent. Her practice specialises in drawing, exploring themes of the self and feminism. Her work is inspired by literature and the history of women.

Her recent practice has seen her exhibit with the Royal British Society of Art, the Cordial Eye Gallery in Massachusetts and the Beaney Gallery in Canterbury, Kent. She has also worked with Pow! Thanet to organise the 2021 ‘Women in Protest’ Exhibition which celebrated the Greenham Women.

Molly has always adored classic literature which led to her application to work with Jane Austen’s House. Her undergraduate degree saw her study the relationship between Victorian literature and lives of women in Victorian England, writing about common misconceptions about Victorian culture and attitudes towards lived experience of sexuality at the time.

Writer in Residence: Jade Cuttle

Jade Cuttle works at The Times as Arts Commissioning Editor. Her criticism has also been published in the Guardian, the Observer, the TLS and the Telegraph. She has been commissioned to write poetry for BBC Radio 3, BBC Contains Strong Language Festival and the BBC Proms. As a songwriter, fusing metaphor with melody, Jade has written an eco-themed album of poem-songs ‘Algal Bloom’, released through Warren Records with funding from the PRS foundation and Make Noise. She previously worked at The Poetry Society and has run numerous workshops and courses at The Poetry School. Jade has been an editor at Ambit, a poetry and final judge for the Costa Book Awards (2019), and is currently judging the world’s largest prize for ecopoetry, the Poetry School’s Ginkgo prize, alongside co-judge Simon Armitage.
