Join film historian Keith Lodwick for a glimpse behind the camera in this fascinating examination of some of the challenges and opportunities of designing costumes in Jane Austen film adaptations. We’ll start with the beloved film and TV adaptations of 1995 – Pride and Prejudice designed by Dinah Collin and Sense and Sensibility designed by John Bright and Jenny Beaven – and work our way right up to the acclaimed 2020 film of Emma designed by Alexandra Byrne.

Keith Lodwick is a writer and film historian, and former Curator of Theatre and Screen Arts at the V&A. Keith’s book on the 60 year history of Cosprop will be published in the autumn, making him the perfect person to walk us through the recreation of period costuming.
