West Meon Music Festival celebrates the Jane Austen anniversary in a gala concert with Felicity Kendal and James Gilchrist!
In partnership with Jane Austen’s House, “Jane Austen’s Playbook” curated by renowned theatre director Nancy Meckler, celebrates Jane Austen’s 250th anniversary in music and words.
Felicity Kendal reads extracts from Austen’s works, letters and notebooks interwoven with music by composers contemporary to and loved by Jane Austen.
The concert also features an exciting world première of “Notes for a Novel (Pride & Prejudice)” by TV composer Peter Salem (“Call the Midwife”).
World-famous tenor, James Gilchrist will perform Schubert’s “Einsamkeit” and the concert starts with Beethoven String Trio in D major, Op.9, No.2.
