This special event will showcase a range of treasures from the museum collection relating to springtime and new beginnings – with a particular nod to the Dashwoods’ new start in Sense and Sensibility.
As part of a small group, you’ll have the chance to see a range of objects up close, and to learn from our collections team about their history, care and significance.
We’ll examine a rare first edition of Sense and Sensibility and a range of Sense and Sensibility illustrations and film production shots. We’ll also look at florals and spring fashions, Regency fashion plates, floral embroideries and carvings. With a nod to April showers, we’ll also examine a pair of Regency pattens.
We’ll discuss how different illustrations were made, printed and how they influenced each other, and how we care for them as part of the museum collection.
This event will be led by an expert on our collection. The group will be kept small, so there will be plenty of opportunities to see objects up close, ask questions and discuss as we go along.
