Enjoy festive decorations, seasonal audio and a trail of gifts throughout Jane Austen's House, in celebration of her 250th birthday.

Enjoy Jane Austen’s House dressed up for a very special Christmas and birthday celebration!

Around the House, enjoy seasonal decorations of evergreen garlands, ribbons and paper decorations, handmade by museum staff and volunteers from old copies of Emma – Jane Austen’s most Christmassy novel.

In the Dining Room, the table will be set for a festive feast, complete with a birthday cake befitting Jane Austen’s 250th birthday, and foodstuffs that we know Jane Austen loved.

Throughout the House, enjoy specially-created seasonal audio, bringing Christmases of Jane Austen’s life and novels to life – from the Christmas Eve dinner at Randalls in Emma to Anne’s Christmas visit to Uppercross in Persuasion.

Families of all ages will enjoy Jane Austen’s House Birthday Present Trail – a trail of presents that were given to Jane Austen or her family, or to characters in her novels – hidden in rooms throughout the House…

Christmas Gifts and Gaieties will run from Wednesday 19 November – Sunday 30 December 2025 and is included with House admission.
