**Sold out** Online Embroidery workshop: Christmas Robin

Take some time out for yourself in the run up to Christmas and join us online for a calming, creative evening of festive embroidery

Saturday 27 November
3:00pm — 9:00pm

We are delighted to be partnering with embroidery expert and Royal School of Needlework tutor Chrissie Juno Mann for this exclusive online workshop.

In this special evening event, Chrissie will lead a relaxing and inspiring session of hand embroidery, as you learn to stitch this charming ‘Mistletoe Robin’ design.

With his bright red chest and a sprig of mistletoe in his beak, our charming Christmas Robin is the perfect design to adorn your Christmas this year.

The piece is worked in the Blackwork technique with different geometric stitches creating the infill to the robin, and features Swarovski beads for the mistletoe berries.

By the end of the session you will have created a charming Christmas memento and will have the skills to create more in your own time!

Mistletoe Robin by Chrissie Juno Mann

In January 1817, Jane Austen sent a charming letter to her young niece, Cassy, written in code. The words were all written backwards, for Cassy to decipher. In the letter she notes:

‘Ew deef het Nibor yreve gninrom.’ or ‘We feed the robin every morning.’

It is a charming detail of Jane’s life at Chawton Cottage, and we can imagine her stepping outside after breakfast to leave crumbs on the lawn for a friendly robin to peck at.

This workshop takes inspiration from Jane’s friendly robin and from the festive tradition of mistletoe, which the Austens would have known.

Alongside Chrissie’s expert tuition, the workshop will include an exclusive live session with an expert from Jane Austen’s House, sharing the treasures and beauties of the House with you. There will be plenty of time for questions and chat throughout the session, over a (virtual) cup of tea!

This is a fun pre-Christmas stitch, suitable for beginners.
