“Fanny cannot answer your question about buttonholes till she gets home.”
Jane Austen writing to her sister Cassandra, Sunday 6 March 1814

We are delighted to have joined forces with embroidery expert and Royal School of Needlework tutor Chrissie Juno Mann for an exclusive collaboration.

FULL DAY WORKSHOP

In this live, online event, Chrissie will lead a relaxing and inspiring session of hand embroidery. Under her expert tuition you will create a pair of Regency-inspired buttons featuring a beautiful Bullion Knot Rose design, influenced by our own Chawton Cottage Rose – a specially created rose variety with pearly pink petals around a ruby centre.

Over the course of the full day workshop you will learn how to create these pretty Bullion Knot Roses along with other embroidery stitches such as Trellis Stitch, Detached Chain Stitch and French Knots. By the end of the day you will have created a charming memento of Jane Austen’s House and will have the skills to create more in your own time!

There will be plenty of time for questions and chat, over a (virtual) cup of tea!
