The Bennet Sisters’ (Virtual) Guide to Jane Austen’s House
Join us online on Pride & Prejudice Day for a fun, family-friendly introduction to Jane Austen’s House, under the expert guidance of the five Bennet girls - Jane, Lizzy, Mary, Kitty and Lydia... What sort of tour guides will they be?!Friday 28 January
4:30pm — 5:30pm
When the first published copy of Pride and Prejudice arrived at Chawton Cottage in 1813, Jane Austen called it her “darling child” – but what would the five Bennet sisters make of Jane Austen’s House today? Would Lydia find any red coats to make her swoon? Would Lizzy be impressed by our collection of books? Would they recognise themselves in any of our exhibits?
In this family-friendly online talk and tour, we’ll take a look at Jane Austen’s House through the eyes of the Bennet girls as we imagine what kind of tour guides they might be.
A fun, accessible introduction to Jane Austen’s House and Pride & Prejudice for all the family!
