!!SOLD OUT!! Join us for a fabulous and fascinating talk by acclaimed dress historian and Austen expert Hilary Davidson, in celebration of her new book Jane Austen’s Wardrobe.

Drawing on Jane Austen’s 161 known letters, as well as her surviving garments and accessories, Hilary will examine the variety of clothes that Jane Austen would have possessed—from gowns and coats to shoes and undergarments. The Jane Austen she reveals is stylish and alert to fashion trends but thrifty and eager to reuse and repurpose clothing.

After the talk, join Hilary for a celebratory tea party, chat about Regency fashion, and take the opportunity to pick up a signed copy of Jane Austen’s Wardrobe!

Your ticket includes House entry, so you can also pop into the House to see some of the objects Hilary describes, including Jane Austen’s muslin shawl, topaz crosses and Hilary’s own reproduction of Jane Austen’s silk pelisse coat.
