On Pride and Prejudice Day, join us for a delightful virtual talk with acclaimed novelist and screenwriter Deborah Moggach about her beloved film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice (2005) which starred Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen, and for which she was nominated for a BAFTA.
In this lively conversation, Deborah will discuss her prolific career as a writer, how she approached adapting Pride and Prejudice, her relationship with Austenās novels and why their influence remains so potent and relevant after all this time.
Deborah will be in conversation with journalist and author Caroline Malcolm-Boulton.

Deborah Moggach has written 20 novels, including the best-selling Tulip Fever and The Carer. She has adapted many of her own works as TV dramas, as well as other novels such as Nancy Mitford’s Love in a Cold Climate and Anne Fine’s Goggle-Eyes, (Writers Guild Award for Best Adapted Screenplay). Her movie adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, starring Keira Knightley, was nominated for a BAFTA. She co-wrote the screenplay (with Tom Stoppard) of her novel Tulip Fever which was released as a film starring Alicia Vikander and Judi Dench. Her novel These Foolish Things was made into the hit movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel which she also adapted as a stage play starring Hayley Mills. She has an OBE for her services to literature and drama.
