This Easter weekend we are have lots of fun and games up our (long) sleeves… from Regency undergarments to contemporary art, family activities and garden games, there’s something for everyone!
If you can join us in Chawton, this is what you can expect:
Family fun
We’ve got our own take on Easter Bonnets – join in with your little ones by going on the Great Easter Bonnet Hunt! Once you’ve found them all, report to the Gift Shop for a prize!
(Spoiler – prizes may contain chocolate!)
šØ We’llĀ be getting crafty with bonnet colouring and collage! Design your own and add it to our Bonnet Wall of Fame!
š¾ We’ll also be getting out the garden games for some epic games of skittles, cup-and-ball, giant dominoes and hoopla!
Special displays
In the House we have Jane Austen Undressed, our spring/summer display examining Regency undergarments – and *that* white shirt…
We’ve also got a new permanent display on Jane Austen’s brothers, examining their lives, characters and how they interacted with Jane and her writing career.
Contemporary art
We also have a display of contemporary art by MA students from UCA Farnham! Subtext shows the work of thirteen Fine Art MA students, and responds to Jane’s House, life and legacy.
And of course there’s that gorgeous new roof! Whether its keeping the rain out or basking in the sunshine, we hope you enjoy seeing it sans scaffolding.
We are just delighted to have the House looking beautiful again after such a big maintenance project!
