Light & Shadow is inspired by the changes of light and shadow at Jane Austen’s House. As time passes and the light changes, the shadows created by my work shift over time. The window light casts shadows through the sculpture, changing the light as if alive and breathing.

Jane Austen lived in the 18th century, when secular portraiture replaced traditional religious engraving. I wanted to combine the traditional with the contemporary, using a Romantic approach to document a natural event, a slice of history; to explore how digital technology has influenced art. Moreover, how modern tools contribute to painting today, to bring the two together.
