Join us for a very special online event, getting up close and personal with Georgian women: what they wore, how they washed themselves and their clothes, and how they coped with menstruation, menopause and disease.
This event is a collaboration between theĀ Vagina MuseumĀ and Jane Austenās House, tying into their respective exhibitions:Ā Periods: A Brief HistoryĀ andĀ Jane Austen Undressed.
Weāll be joined by dress historian and Regency dress expert Hilary Davidson for a deep dive into Georgian undergarments ā from bare bottoms to heaving bosoms ā and by the Vagina Museum staff for a physical examination of how we coped with our bodies in the Georgian era. Weāll finish with a pop quiz and there will be plenty of time to ask questions, chat, fun (and a little Jane Austen!) along the way.
Tickets: £6.50
Ā This event will take place on Zoom. Please provide a valid email address, as you will be emailed a link to join the talk in the run up to the event.Ā
Ā If you are joining as a group or household, please buy one ticket for each person attending.Ā All proceeds go towards the upkeep of the Museums.Ā
Ā Timings are given in UK time (British Summertime) ā please do check what the event time is in your territory, to ensure you log in at the right time.
Ā Due to popular demand, this event will be recorded and available to purchase from theĀ Vagina Museum online shopĀ after the event. Please note, tickets sold in advance include access to the virtual event only, they do not include a copy of the recording.Ā
