“In poetry everything is permitted.” – ‘Young Poets’ by Nicanor Parra
In this fun and engaging poetry workshop, we’ll be asking questions like ‘what should I write a poem about?’ and ‘what is allowed in a poem?’, looking to recent poems for answers before penning some of our own. We’ll write poems that aren’t poems, we’ll write poems about our favourite TV shows and videogames, we’ll write the kind of poems that we want to write.
About the tutor: Ellora Sutton is the Creative Engagement Officer at Jane Austen’s House, as well as being a widely published young poet. Her latest book, antonyms for burial, is the Poetry Book Society Spring 2023 Pamphlet Choice.
