Jane Austen Undressed

Our Spring/Summer 2022 display presents rare examples of Regency underwear are displayed alongside iconic pieces from TV and film adaptations, from Elizabeth Bennet’s petticoat to Emma Woodhouse’s stays
 and *that* white shirt!

 

Subtext: Contemporary Art Inspired by Jane Austen’s House

Subtext, a contemporary art show by MA Fine Art artists from UCA Farnham in spring 2022, brought together new artworks in response to Jane Austen’s writings, her life, and the socio-political histories between the eighteenth century and the present day.

Six Winters: Scenes from Jane Austen’s Life & Imagination

Our winter 2021/22 exhibition presented six memorable winter scenes from Jane Austen’s life and novels, using the House itself, objects and sounds to set the scene.

A virtual exhibition guest curated by professor Kathryn Sutherland in 2020, exploring the importance of letters in Jane Austen’s life and work, through objects from the Museum.

 

A Choice Collection of Curiosities Comically Curated from Chawton Cottage

A witty exploration of Jane Austen’s Teenage self and writings, through objects in the Museum collection, created for the JASNA AGM 2020.
